A Reddit user shared a hilarious childhood story where he and his cousin found a brilliant loophole to disobey their grandmother’s strict bakery rule. GrandmaBaker had banned them from eating any baked goods while she napped, but the kids weren’t ready to back down from the temptation of delicious snacks.
Living in a bakery with everything from a chicken coop to flour sacks, they were surrounded by an array of baked goods. But when Grandma gave them the “no pastries” rule, they took it literally. Instead of sneaking the pastries, they went straight for the dulce de leche—a rich, caramel-like spread that wasn’t technically a baked good. The pantry was stocked with it for use in baking, but no one said they couldn’t eat it straight out of the jar! Armed with a wooden spoon, the two kids devoured what was probably half a kilo of dulce de leche each.
Though they ended up with a massive stomach ache, they achieved the ultimate victory in “malicious compliance”—eating what they wanted without technically breaking the rule. Classic kids, always finding ways around the system!
