Churu, a small town in Rajasthan, is earning the title of the “City of Love” for its rising number of couples seeking love marriages, often in the face of societal opposition. While the town is less modern than larger cities, it has become a symbol of defiance against traditional norms. According to local reports, couples frequently visit the Superintendent of Police (SP) office, seeking assistance in the face of family and social pressure.

Interestingly, while love flourishes in Churu, many couples choose to marry outside the district, often in Arya Samaj temples in Ghaziabad or courts in cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner. This is due to societal constraints, such as caste, religion, wealth disparities, and age differences. However, the struggles don’t end with marriage. Couples often face backlash from their families, including threats of violence and honor-based harm, leading them to seek protection from the authorities.

Despite these challenges, Churu has become a place where love battles societal convention, earning it a unique place in Rajasthan’s cultural landscape.
