The Tyavarekoppa Tiger and Lion Safari-cum-Zoo near Shivamogga is preparing to welcome two new residents — a pair of lion cubs from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Officials from the zoo confirmed that a young lion and lioness, both around two years old, will arrive from Kamala Nehru Prani Sangrahalay (Indore Zoo) as part of an approved animal-exchange programme.
In return, the Tyavarekoppa zoo will send four Indian Gaurs (Indian bisons) to Indore. The exchange has received a green signal from the Central Zoo Authority of India, ensuring all norms and procedures are followed.
This initiative aims to promote genetic diversity, enhance public awareness, and support conservation efforts at both zoological parks.
