Puttur: Manvith K (I PCMB) of St Philomena PU College here bagged second place in Karnataka State U – 17 Open Fide Rated Chess Championship.
Teh competition was organised by Puttur Taluk Chess Association and Vokkaliga Gowda Seva Sangha, Puttur at Vokkaliga Gowda Samudaya Bhavana from June 24 to 26. Manvith scored 7 points in 9 rounds and has now been selected for the National Level Chess Tournament to be held at Odisha.
Manvith is the son of Damodar Kanajalu and Rashmi P. S. Sathyaprasad Kote, Aravinda Shashtri and Stany G. A. are his trainers.
