Lokayukta Raids Uncover ₹22.78 Cr Assets from 7 Karnataka Officials

Bengaluru: In a major crackdown on corruption, Lokayukta police on Thursday raided 35 premises linked to seven state government officials across Karnataka, unearthing disproportionate assets (DA) worth ₹22.78 crore, including ₹16.48 crore in immovable assets and ₹2.44 crore in jewellery.

The raids spanned Bengaluru city and rural, Tumakuru, Mangaluru, Vijayapura, and Yadgir, targeting residences, offices, and properties of the accused and their relatives. All seven officials have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Key Accused and Asset Breakup:

• H R Nataraj, Legal Metrology Inspector (Bengaluru City):

  • DA: ₹3.94 crore

  • Includes 2 sites, 2 houses, 9 acres of farmland, ₹21 lakh in jewellery, and ₹54 lakh in household goods.

• Murali T V, Additional Director of Town Planning, BDA (Bengaluru City):

  • DA: ₹3.47 crore

  • Properties: 3 sites, 3 houses, ₹25.54 lakh in ornaments.

• Anantha Kumar, Second Division Assistant, Hosakote Taluk Office (Bengaluru Rural):

  • DA: ₹1.96 crore

  • Includes 1 house, 5 acres of farmland, and ₹44.84 lakh in movable assets.

• Rajashekhara D, Planning Director, Nirmithi Kendra (Tumakuru):

  • DA: ₹5.74 crore (Highest among the seven)

  • Assets: 12 sites, 4 houses, 4 acres of farmland, ₹89.06 lakh in gold, ₹11.66 lakh in cash.

• Manjunath M R, Survey Supervisor, Urban Property Ownerships Record Office (Mangaluru):

  • DA: ₹2.56 crore

  • Properties: 9 sites, 2 houses, and ₹25.73 lakh in movable assets.

• Renuka Satarle, Ex-District Manager, Dr B R Ambedkar Dev. Corp. (Vijayapura):

  • DA: ₹3.10 crore

  • Includes ₹58.8 lakh in ornaments, ₹10 lakh in cash, and ₹24 lakh in fixed deposits.

• Umakanth Halle, Tahsildar, Shahapura Taluk (Yadgir):

  • DA: ₹1.98 crore

  • Properties: 2 sites, 2 houses, ₹27.58 lakh in bank balances, and one bank locker.

Lokayukta Action

Investigators are now scrutinizing financial documents, land records, bank accounts, and locker contents. Officials said the probe will determine how these assets were acquired and whether benami holdings are involved.

This sweeping action signals a strong message against entrenched corruption in the state’s bureaucracy, with more raids and prosecutions likely in the coming weeks.
