
Lorry Collision in Bhatkal Causes Injuries and Traffic Blockage on NH 66
A severe head-on collision between two lorries in Shirali, Bhatkal, left both drivers injured and caused a major traffic jam on one side of NH 66. The accident occurred around 10 PM on Friday when one lorry was exiting a petrol pump, and another lorry, traveling from Mangalore to Hubli, collided with it at high speed. The force of the crash trapped both drivers inside their cabins.
Yasir Armar, a local passerby, reported that it took until 1 AM to rescue the drivers with the help of a crane, JCB, and gas cutters. One driver suffered severe head injuries, while the other sustained a leg injury. Both were rushed to Bhatkal Government Hospital.
Local residents and police worked together to free the trapped drivers and clear the vehicles, restoring traffic after several hours.
