Mandya: A farmer lost his life in a tragic accident when a tipper truck, transporting gravel for road work, ran over him in Karada Kere village, near Bharathinagar, Mandya district.
The deceased, identified as Ningegowda (55), was unloading fodder near his house after returning on his TVS moped. The incident occurred when the tipper, reversing to dump gravel, struck him. Reports indicate the accident resulted from the driver’s negligence, leading to Ningegowda’s death on the spot.
Police Intervention and Protests
Officers from Maddur Police Station arrived promptly at the scene and initiated legal proceedings. Meanwhile, agitated villagers demanded accountability, insisting that the contractor and the tipper owner responsible for the road work visit the site.
The villagers refused to allow the removal of Ningegowda’s body until assurances were made regarding appropriate compensation for the bereaved family.
