MANDYA: The persistent issue of child marriage continues to haunt Mandya district, with 28 cases reported between April 25 and May 25 alone. Authorities managed to prevent 25 of these, while FIRs were filed in the remaining three cases.

Despite continuous awareness drives and community outreach, the trend remains worrying. Officials say that last year, the district saw 186 child marriage cases—of which 129 were successfully stopped, and 57 led to FIRs.

The data reveals a troubling pattern that underscores the need for stronger enforcement, deeper community engagement, and more education around the dangers of early marriage.
