Mandya district is witnessing remarkable progress in economic development, education, and employment, said MLA P. Ravikumar during a student felicitation programme at BR Ambedkar Bhavan. The event honoured 700 students who scored 90% and above in the SSLC and PUC exams for the academic year 2024–25.
“Earlier, people had to go to Bengaluru or Mysuru to buy a car. Today, Mandya offers everything locally,” Ravikumar said, crediting increased investor interest for the region’s transformation. “Over the past two years, nearly 4,000 youth have gained employment, and we’re seeing a shift in economic vibrancy,” he added. Encouraging students, he stressed that high marks alone are not enough—strong conceptual knowledge is key for success in competitive exams.
Deputy Commissioner Kumara reminded students that sustaining success is just as crucial as achieving it. Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi used the platform to raise concern about the growing cases of child marriage in the district. “Parents must resist societal pressure and ensure their daughters receive proper education,” he said.
Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami compared nurturing young minds to growing saplings—emphasising values, discipline, and intelligence. “You are the light of your own life. Honour your parents’ and teachers’ trust, and rise to become role models in society,” he told the students.
Also present were MUDA chairman Nayeem, education department officials, and the Government Employees’ Association president.
