Mandya MLA Ravikumar P and Deputy Commissioner Kumara conducted an inspection of industrial zones in Gejjalagere on Saturday, focusing on garment manufacturing units, including Shahi Exports. During their visit, they identified a major safety concern—numerous female workers were commuting in goods autorickshaws, a clear violation of transport safety norms.
Officials highlighted that such unsafe travel methods not only endanger workers but also make them ineligible for insurance claims in case of accidents. To address this, they promptly launched a KSRTC bus service from Mandya bus stand, ensuring safer and more reliable transportation for employees.
The inspection also included direct interactions with female workers to assess workplace conditions. Authorities inquired about salary payment schedules, Provident Fund (PF) benefits, and safety measures in the factories. Special attention was given to maternity leave policies and the availability of anganwadi facilities for workers with young children.
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi and KSRTC district controller Nagaraj were present during the visit. Officials assured that necessary steps would be taken to enhance worker welfare and safety in the industrial zones.
