In a landmark move to empower survivors of bonded labour, the Mandya district administration is set to roll out a special campaign titled ‘Nanna Guruthu’ (My Identity) — aimed at ensuring access to 13 vital government documents and welfare schemes.
At a review meeting on Friday, Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini instructed officials to collect comprehensive data on individuals rescued from bonded labour and submit a report within a month. The official launch date of the campaign will be decided in a follow-up meeting in July.
The initiative will facilitate the issuance of crucial identity and benefit-linked documents such as:
-
Aadhaar card
Birth certificate
Caste and income certificates
Ration card
Voter ID
Bank account
e-Shram card
MGNREGA Job Card
Social security pension
Health and insurance cards like ABHA, PMJJBY, PMSBY, and the UDID card for persons with disabilities.
Nandini emphasized that officials must carry out taluk-level surveys, identify the landless and homeless, and spread awareness about the campaign among vulnerable communities. She also highlighted the need to create e-property accounts to aid in local-level rehabilitation and long-term social inclusion.
The meeting was attended by District Planning Officer Dhanush, ZP Deputy Secretary Lakshmi, and several departmental officials, marking a coordinated push for grassroots implementation of welfare entitlements.
