Maddur (Mandya District): A tragic and suspicious death of a 19-year-old housewife has sent shockwaves through Maddur town. The body of Asha, a young woman from Kamagere in Hanur taluk, was found hanging in her rented home.

Asha had been married for a year to Chandan, a local fresh water trader. The couple had reportedly fallen in love before tying the knot and were living together in Maddur since their marriage.

However, what initially appeared to be a case of suicide has now taken a darker turn. Asha’s parents have alleged foul play, directly accusing her husband Chandan of murder. They claim that their daughter may not have died by suicide, but was instead killed.

Following the complaint lodged by Asha’s family, the Maddur police have taken Chandan in for questioning. While the investigation is ongoing, the post-mortem and forensic findings are expected to provide more clarity on the cause of death.

Police officials have registered a case and stated that they are thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding Asha’s death, including any signs of domestic abuse or coercion.

The incident has sparked concern in the community, highlighting the need for deeper inquiry into young women’s safety in marital homes and the importance of support systems for those facing distress.

The case is under active investigation at the Maddur Police Station.
