Bank employees strike enters second day

Mangaluru: The United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU), an umbrella body of nine bank unions, called for a two-day strike by bank employees in the Dakshina Kannada district in response to the announcement of the privatization of two public sector banks and one insurance company.

The protesters gathered near the Balmatta Circle on Tuesday, March 16. Customers of the banks are facing inconvenience because of the two-day strike of the bank employees.

The protest is being attended by over 2,000 employees from all over the district. This protest will continue on Tuesday, March 16. The strike has affected services such as branch deposits and withdrawals, check clearance and loan approvals. ATMs, on the other hand, are likely to remain operational.
