Vittal Head Constable tests positive for COVID-19

Mangaluru: A police head constable attached to Vittal police station has been tested positive for Covid-19 today, May 24.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada district reached to 65.

According to the sources, this head constable may have contracted the infection from a Mumbai returnee.

A person from Mumbai came to district on May 14 and he had been to Vittal police station, before quarantine. As he was tested positive for Covid-19 on May 18, three constables in Vittal police station too were quarantined.

Their throat swabs were sent for testing and when the results came today, one of them has been tested positive.

Meanwhile, in Udupi district three policemen have been tested positive.
