Mangaluru: City Bus Collides with Car and Auto after Driver Falls Unconscious Due to Low Sugar
Mangaluru: A dramatic incident occurred in Mangaluru on Thursday afternoon when a city bus driver fell unconscious due to low blood sugar levels, causing the bus to collide with a car and an auto-rickshaw. The bus, operated by PTC, was travelling from Morgan’s Gate to State Bank and had stopped at the Milagres stop before the incident occurred.
As the bus approached the signal, the driver, Paul Kiran Lobo (46), suddenly collapsed due to low blood sugar, causing the bus to move slowly and collide with a car that was reversing in front of it. An auto-rickshaw became trapped between the car and the bus, but fortunately, the auto driver, Usman, along with his wife and child, escaped unharmed.
The incident resulted in damage to the car and a two-wheeler, while the auto-rickshaw was completely crushed. The bus driver was immediately admitted to the hospital and is recovering from the incident. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Traffic Police Station.
This incident highlights the importance of prioritising health and safety, especially for individuals operating heavy vehicles. It also underscores the need for emergency response measures to be in place to mitigate the impact of such incidents. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were reported, and the situation was brought under control promptly.
