Mangaluru: A heartbreaking road accident took place late last night near Kolya on National Highway 66, claiming the life of a 54-year-old man after his motorcycle slipped and he suffered critical injuries.

The victim has been identified as Manoj Gatti, a resident of Pilaru Ambisadi in Someshwara village and an electrician by trade.

Sources report that Manoj was on his way back from the Bandi Utsava festival held in the Kondaana area of Kotekar when the mishap occurred. His two-wheeler reportedly lost grip on the road at Kolya, causing him to fall and suffer serious injuries upon impact. He was flung onto the highway with force, leading to severe trauma.

Bystanders at the scene acted swiftly, transporting Manoj to a private hospital in Deralakatte. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he tragically did not survive and was declared dead shortly after arrival.

The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with slippery roads due to recent rains suspected as a contributing factor.
