MANGALURU: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Mary Hill, Konchady, Mangaluru, when a 13-year-old boy fatally fell from the fifth floor of his residential complex early on Saturday.
The mishap occurred in the early hours, sometime between 5:30 AM and 6:50 AM, at an apartment building located opposite Mount Carmel Central School. The young boy, who resided in the apartment along with his family, reportedly slipped and plunged from the fifth-floor balcony under tragic circumstances.
Upon discovering the boy in a severely injured state, family members and neighbours immediately rushed to his aid. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the child was declared dead shortly after arrival, with the official time of death noted as 6:57 AM.
City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal confirmed the details of the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the fall was accidental, and authorities have ruled out any foul play at this stage.
Following protocol, the Kavoor Police Station has filed an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) to document the unfortunate event. Further inquiries are ongoing to ascertain if there were any safety lapses or contributing factors involved.
The shocking incident has left the local community in mourning, highlighting the importance of vigilance and preventive measures in high-rise residential areas.
