PUTTUR: A tragic incident occurred in Beltangady taluk where a 15-year-old girl, Harshitha, succumbed to poisoning while undergoing treatment on November 12. Harshitha was the daughter of Sridhar Kumbar, a resident of Paradka in Ilanthila village.

The Class 10 student of a high school in Uppinangady had stayed home on November 4, complaining of a headache. On the same day, she reportedly consumed pesticide at home, falling seriously ill. Her mother immediately took her to a hospital in Puttur, from where she was later shifted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for advanced medical care.

Despite the doctors’ efforts, Harshitha succumbed to her injuries on November 12, leaving her family and community devastated.

Following the incident, Harshitha’s father, Sridhar Kumbar, lodged a complaint at the Uppinangady police station.
