The organs of a 30-year-old police constable, who was declared brain dead after a tragic accident, were successfully harvested at A J Hospital and Research Centre, providing a new chance at life for three individuals. Harish G N, a resident of Gayanahalli in Mysuru, was a dedicated constable at the Kankanady Town Police Station, having served since 2016 after starting his career at Pandeshwar Police Station.

On February 2, Harish had his engagement ceremony, excited for his future. However, on February 5, his life took a devastating turn when his motorcycle was involved in an accident near Aranthodu in Sullia taluk. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear as no CCTV footage was available from the area. Local residents found him badly injured and rushed him to a nearby hospital in Sullia before transferring him to A J Hospital in Mangaluru for specialized care. Despite all efforts, Harish’s condition remained critical, and on February 9, he was declared brain-dead at 8:18 pm.

After receiving counseling from doctors, his mother, Renukamma, made the courageous decision to donate his organs. His liver and one kidney were successfully transplanted to patients at A J Hospital and Research Centre, while his second kidney was sent to KMC Hospital for another life-saving transplant.
