Mangaluru– As part of a widespread reshuffle in Dakshina Kannada district, following recent transfers of IAS and IPS officers, the police department under the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate has now seen a major internal overhaul.

Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy has signed off on the transfer of 56 police personnel, spanning various police stations across the city. The move comes shortly after the state government replaced the SP and Police Commissioner due to a string of contentious incidents that recently rocked the district.

Following the appointment of two dynamic IPS officers to the region, public demand grew louder for the reshuffling of long-serving police staff, especially those accused of mishandling duties or being a source of friction within the department.

Responding to these concerns, Commissioner Reddy acted swiftly. The transferred personnel include officers from the City Crime Branch (CCB), local stations, and even the special forces unit, Sena.

Notably, Head Constable Rashid Sheikh from Bajpe Police Station, who had been linked to the controversial murder case of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, has also been shifted. This case had created a major uproar along the coastal belt, prompting calls for accountability within the force.

The reassignments primarily target officers who had remained at one post for extended periods, with the aim of ensuring fairer policing and better public trust.
