A 65-year-old woman from Cachar district, Assam, has finally returned home after nearly three decades. Her remarkable journey back to her family began on September 13, 2023, when a team from Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre rescued her in Mangaluru. She was later shifted to Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation, Mumbai, on November 25, 2024, and finally reunites with her loved ones on January 15.

Years of separation, a twist of fate

Locating her family was a daunting task as her appearance had changed significantly over the years. Despite efforts to spread her details through social media, TV news, and WhatsApp groups, no immediate leads emerged.

A life-changing discovery

The turning point came when a woman recognized names from the woman’s past, setting off a chain of events that led to a heartwarming reunion.

A moment of overwhelming joy

Her husband, brothers, sisters-in-law, and neighbors welcomed her home with tears of joy. But for her two sons—one serving as an Army officer in Amritsar, the other working in Silchar—the reunion was nothing short of a miracle, bringing closure to nearly three decades of uncertainty.
