A 7-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the road in Baliyoor, near the Manjeshwar area on the Mangaluru border. The incident occurred on Tuesday and was captured on CCTV, raising concerns about road safety in the area.

The footage shows the boy attempting to cross the road when a motorcyclist, traveling at high speed, hit him from behind. The rider immediately fled the scene after the collision. A crowd quickly gathered to assist the child, and a bus stopped to provide help. The boy, who appeared to be in critical condition, was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Local residents have called for stricter road safety measures in the area to prevent such accidents. Authorities are currently reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the motorcyclist and investigate the circumstances of the accident.

In a separate incident, five people lost their lives in two accidents on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Wednesday. One involved a motorbike rider and a pillion passenger who were killed when their vehicle was struck by a car in Vishwanathapura. The other incident occurred in Ramanagara, where a KSRTC bus collided with a car, claiming the lives of three people from Shivajinagar.
