Mangaluru: The Karnataka Legal Services Authority has named Advocate Kishore D’Silva from Mangaluru as the Chief Defence Counsel for Dakshina Kannada district, effective immediately for a two-year term.

A respected figure in the legal fraternity, Advocate D’Silva is widely recognized for his expertise in criminal and civil law, with particular proficiency in cross-examination techniques and forensic evidence analysis. His professional acumen has earned him considerable regard in court practice.

Before entering full-time legal practice, D’Silva also served in academics as a lecturer in commerce at St Aloysius Pre-University College and Mahesh College of Management, contributing to both education and community development.

His appointment falls under the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System (LADCS), a program initiated by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) to ensure free legal aid and representation for individuals unable to afford lawyers in criminal proceedings.

The move is expected to enhance access to justice for the underprivileged in Dakshina Kannada, strengthening the district’s legal support framework.
