A severe shortage of auto LPG has disrupted daily operations in Mangaluru, leaving auto rickshaw drivers struggling to refuel and continue their services.
Long queues of autos were seen lined up at the LPG refilling point in Shivabagh–Mallikatte, as drivers waited for hours hoping to get fuel. The situation has caused significant inconvenience, impacting both livelihoods and commuter services across the city.
Drivers face mounting difficulties
Auto drivers expressed frustration over the scarcity, stating that the lack of timely fuel supply has reduced their daily earnings. Many reported spending several hours in queues, affecting their ability to operate throughout the day.
Some drivers also highlighted that repeated shortages have become a recurring issue, urging authorities to ensure a stable supply of LPG to avoid further disruption.
Impact on public transport
With fewer autos on the road due to fuel unavailability, commuters have also begun to feel the pinch. Delays and increased waiting times have been reported in several parts of the city.
Auto drivers have appealed to concerned authorities to address the shortage immediately and streamline distribution to prevent further escalation of the problem.
The situation underscores the need for efficient fuel management systems to support essential urban transport services and safeguard the livelihoods dependent on them.
