Puttur : In a shocking turn of events, two individuals, Akhilesh and Krishna Kishore, have been booked under the Arms Act for allegedly threatening bank staff with a pistol when they visited Akhilesh’s residence to discuss an overdue loan of ₹2 crore.

According to Chaitanya HC, Relationship Manager at the State Bank of India’s Puttur Court Road branch, Akhilesh had taken a business loan that had turned into a non-performing asset (NPA) despite repeated legal notices. On Thursday, bank officials Akash Chandrababu and Divyashree, along with Kirti, a resident of Ujirpade, Balnadu village, who had deposited ₹2 crore in Akhilesh’s name, went to Akhilesh’s house to discuss the repayment.

At the time, Akhilesh was not present, and his wife Kirti informed him of the visit. When Akhilesh returned, he reprimanded the bank staff for visiting his home, locked them inside, and made them wait for his father to arrive.

The situation escalated when Krishna Kishore, Akhilesh’s associate, arrived and allegedly threatened the bank officials with a pistol, warning them not to pursue the loan repayment any further.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Puttur Rural Police Station under the Arms Act. Police have assured a thorough investigation and promised action against the accused.

This incident has raised concerns about the growing challenges in loan recovery and the safety of bank officials in Karnataka.
