Belthangady: The much-anticipated Punjalakatte-Charmadi NH-73 project faced a setback when the initial contractor, D.P. Jain, withdrew halfway through due to perceived losses. However, in a recent development, Mugrodi Company has been entrusted with additional work, and construction resumed in the presence of MP Brijesh Chouta and MLA Harish Poonja on Sunday.

MP Brijesh Chouta expressed concerns about inexperienced contractors working on the project but assured that an experienced contractor has now been arranged to address this issue. The immediate focus will be on repairing damaged sections of the highway, with plans for further development in later phases.

MLA Harish Poonja emphasized that current highway issues will be resolved following discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Highways Department officials. Geographical challenges related to the development work of Punjalakatte-Charmadi were discussed in a meeting with the District Collector, and various plans were made.

Additionally, plans for a service road extension from Guruwayanakere Warakabe to Ujire Petrol Station and a proposal for a flyover near Vani College have been announced. Efforts are underway to tackle land encroachments and complete all necessary tasks by January.

Furthermore, MLA Harish Poonja revealed developments regarding a ₹700 crore grant tender process as part of discussions with MP Brijesh Chouta in Delhi. This has resulted in positive progress for ongoing projects within their constituency.
