Mangaluru– A shocking case of bio-medical waste dumping has been reported on the footpath opposite Highland Hospital, near a pet shop on Kankanady–Falnir Road. A concerned resident of Falnir brought the issue to light after spotting hazardous medical waste strewn in a public space.
Among the waste were used syringes, blood sample containers with barcodes and patient names, medical bills, and confidential patient records. Shockingly, bottles containing clotted blood were also found at the site, raising serious concerns about public health and data privacy violations.
The incident points to a gross violation of bio-medical waste disposal regulations, which mandate proper handling through authorized channels to prevent health risks and contamination.
Authorities are expected to take immediate action by identifying the source of the waste and enforcing strict penalties under relevant environmental and health laws. The proximity to a hospital and residential area adds urgency to the situation, as such negligence could lead to serious public health consequences.
