Mangaluru – In a significant political accusation, the Congress party has alleged that the BJP has embedded its affiliates within the Election Commission panel in Dakshina Kannada district, raising serious concerns over the neutrality of the election oversight process.
Speaking to the media, senior Congress leaders claimed that multiple individuals linked to the BJP currently hold key roles in the local poll monitoring body. These positions, they argue, are meant to be non-partisan and uphold electoral transparency, but now risk being compromised.
The party expressed fears that such political infiltration could undermine the integrity of upcoming elections, with decisions potentially skewed in favour of one party. They have called for a thorough, independent probe into both the composition and functioning of the panel.
Congress leaders warned that if the allegations are not addressed promptly, public trust in the democratic process may be severely damaged. “The Election Commission should remain above politics,” a spokesperson said. “We urge authorities to restore faith in our electoral system.”
These claims have further intensified the ongoing political rivalry between the two major parties in the region ahead of crucial elections.
