A well-planned scam involving a fraudulent label swap led to the theft of two cameras worth Rs 11.4 lakh from a warehouse in Mangaluru. The incident occurred when Mahindra Logistics, acting as a delivery partner for Amazon, received multiple parcels under the name of a recipient, Amith. On September 21, Amith, along with an accomplice, allegedly swapped the labels on the camera packages during the delivery.

The delivery was facilitated by a boy named Mohammad Nishak. While delivering, he placed the items on the sidewalk and verified OTPs for each package. However, when Amith provided incorrect OTPs for two items, the delivery boy had to resend the OTPs, during which time Amith’s phone went off. Later, it was discovered that the labels on the camera boxes were switched with labels from different parcels, leading to the fraudulent theft of the cameras.

The next day, the warehouse staff discovered the label swap during a return inspection, revealing the stolen cameras. Attempts to contact Amith have failed as his phone remains switched off, and authorities suspect that the theft occurred while the delivery boy was distracted. The police are currently investigating the case.
