Mangaluru: A comprehensive cancer awareness survey report covering over 10,000 households across Dakshina Kannada district will be formally released at a public function, announced Dr Suresh Rao, Managing Trustee of Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust and Director of Mangalore Institute of Oncology.

Study on awareness, fear and delayed diagnosis

The survey was conducted by a dedicated team of doctors and staff from the Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO) to assess public perception of cancer. The study focused on key aspects such as awareness levels, fear associated with the disease, and the reasons behind delayed screening and medical consultation despite awareness.

Dr Rao stated that the findings are expected to provide valuable insights into behavioural patterns and barriers that prevent early detection, which remains crucial in improving cancer outcomes.

The survey report will be released by Ivan D’Souza, Member of the Legislative Council, Government of Karnataka.

Walter Nandalike, Founder of Daijiworld Media Network, will attend the programme as the chief guest.
