Puttur: A car partially caught fire near Shiradigudde at Golitottu on National Highway 75 on Friday evening, prompting a quick response that prevented the blaze from spreading further. The occupants escaped safely after noticing smoke and flames emerging from the vehicle before the fire intensified.
The car was travelling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru when the incident occurred.
Driver stops vehicle after noticing smoke
According to available information, the car had reached Shiradigudde near Golitottu when smoke began billowing from the vehicle, followed by flames from the engine compartment.
Sensing the danger, the driver immediately brought the car to a halt on the roadside. Both the driver and the passenger got out of the vehicle in time and escaped without sustaining any injuries.
Their prompt action prevented any casualties despite the sudden fire.
Fire doused with water tanker
The fire was brought under control with the help of a water tanker belonging to KNR, the company carrying out the National Highway 75 four-laning project.
The timely intervention ensured that the flames were extinguished before they could engulf the entire vehicle or spread to nearby areas.
No other vehicles or persons were affected in the incident.
Engine compartment gutted
Although the fire was contained, the engine compartment of the car was completely gutted.
The remaining portions of the vehicle sustained partial damage due to the heat and flames.
