A case has been booked against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat at the Bantwal Rural Police Station for delivering inflammatory remarks believed to disturb communal peace and disrupt public order in the Dakshina Kannada district.
The incident occurred during a condolence gathering organized in memory of a young man who was recently murdered in Mangaluru. The event took place on May 12, 2025, at the Madva Palace Kalyana Mantapa, located in Kavalapadur village under the jurisdiction of Bantwal Rural Police Station.
Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat was among the key speakers at the event, which saw the participation of nearly 500 people. During his speech, he allegedly made statements that were provocative in nature, aimed at inciting communal sentiments and potentially fostering discord between different religious communities.
Following the speech, authorities acted swiftly and registered a case under Crime No. 60/2025, invoking Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are currently investigating the matter, and appropriate legal measures are expected to follow based on the outcome.
Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining harmony in the region and have urged the public to refrain from making divisive or inflammatory statements.
