Mangaluru: To honor the birth anniversary of renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, a workshop on innovative mathematics teaching methods was held at the Pilikula Regional Science Centre. Organized in collaboration with DIET, Mangaluru, the event aimed to equip mathematics teachers with tools to make learning more engaging for students.

Inaugurating the workshop, DIET Senior Lecturer Srinivasa Adiga highlighted the importance of dispelling the fear of mathematics among young learners. He stressed the need for teachers to adopt creative strategies that nurture a love for the subject. “Math is intertwined with every aspect of life. Teachers must inspire students to explore its beauty and practicality,” he said.

Dr. K.V. Rao, Director of the Science Centre, presided over the event, emphasizing India’s historical contributions to mathematics and the need to carry forward this legacy. He encouraged teachers to use modern tools and resources to simplify complex concepts and foster understanding. “The Science Centre is committed to promoting mathematical literacy through collaborations with resourceful individuals and organizations,” he added.

Resource persons Subrahmanya Bhat, Deekshita S.T., and Veena G. conducted demonstrations to explain fundamental mathematical principles in an interactive manner.

During the valedictory session, participants expressed their appreciation for the workshop, noting its practical approach and useful activities. The event concluded with a shared commitment to making mathematics enjoyable and accessible for all students.
