The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit at Mangaluru International Airport was widely appreciated for its swift and professional response after recovering an unattended bag containing valuable items and returning it safely to its rightful owner.

On January 30, at around 11.50 pm, the Arrival Quick Reaction Team (QRT) noticed an unattended black-coloured bag at the arrival pick-up point during routine patrolling. As per standard operating procedures, the bag was immediately secured and examined.

The CISF dog squad and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted a thorough check, followed by screening through the random screening machine. All security checks returned negative results, confirming there was no threat.

Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain several valuable items, including a Dell laptop, two iPhones, a Nissan car key, foreign currency from Armenia, ATM cards, identity documents, a passport, electronic accessories, jewellery, and personal belongings.

A review of CCTV footage revealed that the passenger had already exited the airport premises. Using details from the boarding pass found inside the bag, CISF personnel coordinated with airline staff to trace the passenger’s contact number and promptly informed him about the recovery.

Following protocol, the bag was deposited at the Airport Terminal Manager’s office, with all details recorded in the lost-and-found register. At around 1.35 am, the passenger arrived at the terminal office, where his identity was verified before the bag was handed over to him intact.

The passenger expressed deep gratitude to the CISF team for their efficiency and honesty. He also shared a video message thanking the CISF Mangaluru unit for their professionalism, vigilance, and timely action.

The incident once again highlights the dedication of airport security personnel in ensuring passenger safety and safeguarding personal property.
