The city police have successfully apprehended Ummar Faruq, a resident of Sajipa Perva, who had evaded court appearances for over four years following his release on bail after serving time for theft. Faruq was the main accused in a theft case registered in 2020 under the city police station jurisdiction.
After his release, he went into hiding, leading to a prolonged search. Acting on a reliable tip-off, a police team led by Bantwal Police Inspector Anant Padmanabha arrested him at BC Road.
Faruq has a total of 22 cases filed against him across various police jurisdictions, including Bantwal rural, Vittal, Uppinangady, Kadaba, Konaje, Bajpe, Barke, and Mangaluru rural police stations. Following his arrest, he was promptly produced before the court.
