A shocking altercation occurred at Thokkottu Junction when two auto-rickshaw drivers barged into a local bakery and assaulted its owner and his son. The scuffle erupted after the bakery owner politely requested them to move their obstructively parked vehicle. The violent episode was captured in full on the bakery’s CCTV system, and a complaint has been formally submitted to the Ullal police.
The trouble began when Ashwin Kumar, the owner of Maruti Sweets, asked auto driver Basheer to shift his tempo rickshaw that was blocking access to his storefront. Offended by the request, Basheer, accompanied by fellow driver Ishaan, aggressively entered the bakery and attempted to physically attack Ashwin.
Ashwin’s mother and a female employee present at the scene tried to intervene in the chaos. However, both women were manhandled and nearly harmed during the scuffle. The tension escalated rapidly until Suchivrutha Shetty, who runs the adjacent Shivasagar Hotel, intervened and successfully removed the assailants from the premises.
The entire incident, including the assault and verbal threats, was caught on the store’s surveillance camera. Ashwin has since approached the police, alleging that Basheer and Ishaan not only attacked him but also threatened to kill him and his mother.
Law enforcement officials are currently reviewing the CCTV evidence and have launched an investigation based on the lodged complaint.
