Mangaluru BJP district president Satish Kumpala has called on the state government to immediately compensate victims affected by the widespread rain-related destruction along the coastal region. He was addressing the media at a press conference held at the BJP district office.

Highlighting the recent tragedy in Manjanady, Ullal, Kumpala expressed deep sorrow, stating that the incident was distressing and the affected families must be granted urgent financial aid. He criticized the lack of preparedness from the authorities, claiming that no pre-monsoon review meeting was conducted by the district’s in-charge minister.

He further alleged that the district administration failed to implement preventive measures, which could have mitigated the impact of the heavy rains. The government, he said, should not only provide compensation to those whose homes were destroyed, but must also extend relief to people who faced losses due to the collapse of livestock shelters, like the cow pond incident.

Kumpala urged the administration to take proactive steps in areas where there is still potential risk, ensuring such situations are not repeated. “Where uncertainty remains, the government must act with urgency,” he emphasized.

The press conference was also attended by Mangaluru North MLA Dr Y Bharat Shetty, Sulya MLA Bhagirathi Murulya, Yatish Alva, and Premananda Shetty, who echoed similar concerns regarding the need for disaster preparedness and immediate government action.
