Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar has assured that Kadaba Town Panchayat (P.P.) will be developed as a model panchayat in line with the promises made during the recent elections. He credited the party’s success to united efforts by its leaders and the implementation of the state government’s five guarantee schemes.
Congress attributes victory to united effort and welfare schemes
Addressing a press conference at the D.K. District Congress office, Harish Kumar said the party’s electoral victory in Kadaba P.P. was due to its commitment to welfare measures and the collective work of its leaders.
“The five guarantees have improved the standard of living of the people. Development is not just about roads and buildings; it is also about uplifting people’s lives. Our government is spending ₹55,000 crore on these schemes and an additional ₹10,000 crore on agricultural pump sets,” he stated.
BJP accused of false allegations
The BJP had alleged that Congress won the Kadaba P.P. election by distributing money and appeasing voters. However, Harish Kumar dismissed the accusations, claiming it was the BJP that engaged in such practices.
“On election day, BJP workers distributed money in four wards and snatched two wards. Now they are blaming Congress for what they did themselves. But voters are aware of the truth,” he said.
Internal reservation and social justice
Harish Kumar also addressed the issue of internal reservation, calling it a long-standing struggle spanning over three decades.
“Implementing internal reservation is like putting a hand in a beehive – it is difficult to satisfy everyone. But Congress has taken the bold step of ensuring justice to all communities,” he said.
Continuous party organisation
Responding to questions from reporters, Kumar said party organisation is a continuous process, and local elections reflect the public’s response to government policies and welfare measures.
Leaders present
Several Congress leaders, including M.S. Muhammad, Naveen D’Souza, Subhashchandra Shetty Appilatha, Shashidhar Hegde Chittaranjan, Shahul Hamid, Nawaz, Dinesh, Vikas, Neerajpal and Prem Ballalbagh, were present during the press briefing.
Conclusion
The Congress leadership has promised to transform Kadaba Town Panchayat into a model for development and welfare-driven governance. The party also plans to continue strengthening its organisational structure to consolidate its position in the region.
