Mangaluru: A husband and wife were found dead in their rented house at Kaje near Alankaru in Kadaba taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday, leaving behind their two-year-old daughter.
The deceased have been identified as Dinesh, a native of Bajagoli, and his wife Sangeetha from Siddakatte. Police suspect the deaths may have occurred following a domestic dispute, though the exact circumstances are yet to be established.
Incident comes to light on Saturday morning
Dinesh, who was running a hotel business in Alankaru, had been residing in the rented house along with his wife and daughter.
According to preliminary information, the couple had been experiencing domestic problems for some time. Sources said they had stayed away from the house for nearly a month and had returned to their residence only on Friday evening.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when neighbours noticed unusual silence and no movement from the house. Concerned residents alerted the authorities, following which the police visited the spot and entered the house.
The couple was found dead inside the residence, prompting police to initiate an investigation into the case.
Two-year-old daughter found in the house
In a tragic development, the couple’s two-year-old daughter was found inside the house. The child has since been taken into the care of relatives and family members.

Kadaba Police Sub-Inspector Jamburaj and his team visited the scene and conducted an inspection. The bodies have been shifted for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police have registered a case and are investigating all possible angles, including the couple’s reported domestic disputes. Officials said statements from relatives and neighbours are being recorded as part of the inquiry.
Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and stated that further details would emerge after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
