Owing to persistent and intense rainfall over the past few days, the connecting stretch between KIOCL Junction and the Kulur Arch Bridge along National Highway 66 has suffered extensive structural damage. As a result, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a temporary halt to vehicle movement on this segment. The restriction will be enforced from 8 PM on July 21 until 8 AM on July 24 to facilitate urgent repair operations.

The deteriorating condition of the road, marked by crater-like potholes, has been causing significant trouble for daily commuters and motorists. Although previous efforts were made to conduct minor repairs, relentless downpours have continuously undone the work, leading to worsened road conditions and escalating safety concerns.

Due to unsuitable weather for laying asphalt, the NHAI has opted for a more sustainable approach by deploying paver block restoration. This method is expected to offer better resistance against heavy rains and ensure longer-lasting road integrity under current weather challenges.

Authorities have urged the public and all road users to remain patient and comply with traffic diversions during the maintenance window. The repair is considered critical not only for restoring smooth traffic flow but also for preventing potential accidents on the heavily used highway section.

Residents and travelers are advised to plan alternate routes and stay updated on traffic advisories during this period.
