Astitva (R) Mangaluru, an award-winning theatre group recognized at prestigious national and international festivals, is set to present the play Mattiah 22:39 on April 3 at 7 PM at St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University.
The play has previously been staged at renowned events such as the Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, the MWIHUR International Theatre Festival in Assam, and the National School of Drama’s International Theatre Festival in Delhi. It was also part of the esteemed META Theatre Awards. Following its Mangaluru debut last year, the production toured multiple states and now returns with an innovative stage design.
Directed by acclaimed Kerala-based theatre artist Arun Lal, the play features Clanwin and Kumar Lal in lead roles. Music composition is by Anush Shetty and his team, with Joel Lobo managing music arrangements. Lighting design and execution are handled by Christie. The script, originally written by T Kochubava, has been adapted for the stage by Dr Sudhakumari.
Produced under the Rangavikasa project of Mysuru-based Nirdiganta, the play is organized by Astitva (R) Mangaluru under the leadership of Alwyn Serao. The event is in collaboration with the Centre for Theatre Studies and the Kannada Department of St Aloysius University.
Admission is free, and the play will start on time without any formal inaugural ceremony.
