Nekkiladi: A crocodile was sighted on the banks of the Kumaradhara river, near Shekhabba Haji’s residence, sparking curiosity and concern among local residents. The incident took place near the path leading to the river, drawing a small crowd before the reptile slipped back into the water.

The sighting was first reported by a group of children, who noticed a strange shape lying along the riverbank from a distance. Upon closer inspection, they realized it was a crocodile resting quietly near the edge of the water.

The children alerted nearby locals, who hurried to the spot to confirm the sighting. As the group approached cautiously, the crocodile appeared to become alert and slightly aggressive, briefly lifting its head and staring back at the onlookers.

Sensing movement and noise, the animal quickly retreated into the Kumaradhara river, disappearing beneath the surface. Residents watched as the creature submerged itself and vanished into the water.

Locals believe the crocodile may have surfaced due to low water levels or disturbance in its natural habitat. While no one was harmed, the sighting has raised concerns about safety along the riverbanks, especially among villagers and children who frequent the area.

Authorities are expected to monitor the area and issue precautionary advice to the public if necessary.
