To strengthen public safety and maintain law and order in Dakshina Kannada district, the police have begun stringent preventive operations at the station level, both in Mangaluru city and rural areas. District Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arun, has cautioned that firm legal steps will be taken against anyone hindering these measures.

In recent months, the peace and order in parts of Mangaluru and other regions of the district have been disrupted. Upon reviewing murder cases from the past decade, authorities discovered that many accused individuals had links to religious groups. Based on this finding, the police have decided to monitor the movements and daily activities of religious leaders. A comprehensive list of names has already been prepared, and directives have been issued to track all members of religious organizations across the district.

This ongoing operation faced pushback recently when a group of individuals assembled unlawfully outside the Kadaba police station on Sunday, raising objections to the checks being conducted. In response, the police have filed a case under Sections 189(2) and 180 against the protesters for interfering with law enforcement activities.

SP Dr. Arun stressed that tough action will continue against any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt peacekeeping efforts. The vigilance will persist until the district’s law and order situation returns to normal.
