Mangaluru: Denis D’Silva, a seasoned Congress party worker with over 25 years of grassroots involvement in Dakshina Kannada, has been appointed as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee for the district.
The appointment was announced by Vinay Kumar Sorake, state president of the KPCC Campaign Committee, with approval from AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal. Denis has been instructed to assume charge immediately and begin appointing campaign coordinators at the district, assembly, block, and panchayat levels.
Having served in various party roles—including Booth President, Ward Committee Head, Youth Congress General Secretary, and Block Congress Secretary—Denis brings deep experience in election management and community outreach. His leadership has been pivotal during multiple civic, assembly, and parliamentary elections.
A firm believer in inclusive growth, Denis has spearheaded numerous awareness drives, cultural programs, and disaster relief efforts. He has also served as President of the Mangalore Diocese and led the Indian Catholic Youth Movement at the state level.
His political career began with the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and grew under the mentorship of senior Congress stalwarts like Oscar Fernandes, Janardhana Poojary, Veerappa Moily, and U T Khader.
Denis is known for reviving cultural heritage through programs like ‘Sambram Sambram’, ‘Zashe Adim Tashe Atam’, and ‘Pepere Pepe Dum’, promoting Dakshina Kannada’s Christian traditions on a wider stage.
His latest role reflects the party’s recognition of his organisational skills, grassroots credibility, and dedication.
