Mangaluru: Dr Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group and Founder Patron of the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), was conferred the Global Leadership Award for Quality & Innovation 2026 at the BCF Educational Scholarship Meet held at Town Hall, Mangaluru, on August 16.
The award was presented by Mr U.T. Khader, Karnataka Minister for Health and Family Welfare, who inaugurated the event.
The occasion also saw Dr Moideen personally award a ₹1.5 crore scholarship covering the full Thumbay International Pathway Programme (TIPP) to a deserving student, reinforcing his commitment to making medical education accessible to meritorious students who may otherwise be unable to afford it.
₹1.5 crore scholarship supports six-year MD pathway
The scholarship covers the six-year Thumbay International Pathway Programme, under which students complete three years of study at Gulf Medical University in Ajman, followed by three years at a partner medical university in Uzbekistan.
Students completing the pathway graduate with a full MD degree, according to the programme details shared at the event.
The scholarship distribution emerged as one of the key moments of the educational meet, highlighting the importance of financial support in enabling deserving students to pursue medical education.
BCF Educational Scholarship Meet focuses on education
The programme was jointly organised by Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), Dubai, and Bearys Cultural Forum Trust, Mangalore.
The event brought together scholarship recipients, educationists, civic leaders and community representatives for a programme focused on expanding access to education.
Alongside the Global Leadership Award and the ₹1.5 crore medical scholarship, the event featured scholarship distribution to SSLC and PUC toppers from across Karnataka.
The programme also included the distribution of free sewing machines to underprivileged women and a business seminar, broadening the event’s focus from education to livelihood and community empowerment.

Dr Nissar Ahmed, Chancellor of Presidency University, was also present, along with Karnataka MLAs and MLCs, senior police and district officials and community leaders from across the Gulf.
