Mangaluru: Dreams on Wheels, an ambitious student-outreach campaign led by former journalist Srinivasan Nandagopal, will commence from Dakshina Kannada district on 24 November. The initiative aims to empower Government School students with motivational sessions on skill development, exam readiness, and career awareness—especially for Class 10 learners who often lack exposure and confidence when they transition to the Pre-University level.
Nandagopal will ride across Karnataka on his Honda CB350, travelling to remote corners of the state to conduct interactive sessions in individual schools and cluster centres, ensuring that students in semi-urban and rural regions benefit from direct engagement.
A statewide journey with a purpose
The journey will begin in Dakshina Kannada, Nandagopal’s home district, and cover all 31 districts of Karnataka before concluding in Bengaluru Urban. The route has been carefully mapped into Coastal, Northern, Central, Plains, and Southern regions, touching border areas adjoining Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
Documenting ground realities in government schools
Beyond delivering motivational sessions, Nandagopal—who is also the co-founder of the Centre for Integrated Learning—intends to document the academic and infrastructural conditions of Government Schools, including teaching standards and resource availability. The findings aim to support the State Government in taking proactive steps to improve the learning ecosystem in underserved regions.
A 5,500 km mission for students
The road trip will span over 5,500 kilometres, making it a unique initiative combining education, advocacy, and grassroots documentation. Through Dreams on Wheels, the team hopes to inspire students, highlight disparities, and encourage stakeholders to invest in strengthening public education across Karnataka.
