Mangaluru: A medical professional from Mangaluru has reportedly fallen victim to an online employment scam, losing ₹4,20,062 after being promised a high-paying job at a hospital in Dubai.
As per the complaint, on June 6, the victim received a call from a woman who introduced herself as Sangeetha, allegedly linked to NMC Hospital, Dubai. She assured the complainant that further details about a job opening would be sent via email. Soon after, the victim received an email from support@thejobsswitch.com outlining the job description and an attractive salary package.
Following this, a man named Vinay Singh contacted the victim, requesting a registration fee of ₹5,499, which was paid on June 13. Over the next several days, citing reasons such as profile verification, document processing, licensing fees, and No Objection Certificates (NoC), the fraudsters demanded additional payments.
The victim, believing the offer to be legitimate, transferred money in multiple installments, which eventually totaled ₹4.2 lakh. However, when the fraudsters asked for an additional ₹2.62 lakh, the complainant grew suspicious and halted further payments.
Upon cross-checking the job offer with acquaintances, the victim discovered that no such vacancy existed at NMC Hospital. Realizing it was a well-orchestrated scam, a complaint was lodged at the Kankanady Town Police Station, urging authorities to take strong legal action against the individuals who exploited digital platforms to deceive job seekers.
