The Department of French, School of Languages and Cultural Studies at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) hosted the much-awaited French fest, Éclosion 2025, on January 8 at LCRI Hall, celebrating linguistic diversity.
Roshan Patrao, the chief guest, inaugurated the event, with Dr. Melwyn D’Cunha SJ, Pro-Vice Chancellor of St Aloysius University, presiding over the programme. Other dignitaries included Dr. Alwyn D’Sa, Registrar; Mark Pereira, Head of the French Department; and student coordinators Royston D’Souza and Vandan.
During his address, Roshan Patrao reminisced about his time at his alma mater and encouraged students to embrace curiosity. Dr. D’Cunha shared personal experiences from France, urging students to explore new languages and relationships for broader perspectives.
The event featured several engaging activities, including a quiz, treasure hunt, art competitions, mock press, and a fashion show. Dr. Charles V Furtado, Director of the Administrative Block, delivered the valedictory address, congratulating winners and praising the French department for organizing the successful fest.
The event saw over 150 students from eight local schools and colleges, highlighting the enthusiasm for French language and culture.
