Mangaluru: The Department of ENT at Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) successfully hosted ENT PG Clinics 2025, a state-wide Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on July 3rd and 4th, aimed at empowering postgraduate students in Otorhinolaryngology. The two-day initiative was designed to equip students with exam-ready skills while promoting collaborative clinical learning.

A dynamic launch to an intensive training initiative

Held at the scenic and academically vibrant campus of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), the programme commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony. The traditional lighting of the lamp marked the beginning of the event, symbolising the journey from ignorance to knowledge.

Presiding over the ceremony were:

  • Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI

  • Rev. Fr Jeevan George Sequeira, Administrator, FMMC

  • Dr. Antony Sylvan D’Souza, Dean, FMMC

  • Organising Chairman Dr. Vinay V Rao, along with Dr. Savita Lasrado (Organising Secretary), Dr. Deekshith Shetty, and Dr. Sana (Joint Secretaries), led the event planning and execution.

    Fr. Faustine welcomed the delegates warmly and encouraged the students to pursue clinical excellence with humility and passion. Dr. Vinay Rao highlighted the programme’s role in enhancing clinical judgment, while Dr. Savita Lasrado delivered the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Dr. Sana.

    Expert guidance and hands-on clinical learning

    The CME featured prominent ENT faculty from across Karnataka, including:

    • Dr. Sreenivas V, Professor & HOD, ENT, St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru

  • Dr. Raveendra P Gadag, Professor, ENT, KIMS, Hubli

  • Dr. Rajneesh K, Professor, ENT, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur

  • Day One featured real-case presentations and discussions on Otology, Rhinology, Laryngology, and Head & Neck Surgery. Postgraduate students received direct mentorship from senior faculty, with a focus on clinical precision and exam strategies.

    Day Two focused on OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) training, an evolving format in ENT assessments. A special session by Dr. Shailaja, Professor, Emergency Medicine, FMMC, explained the new pattern, followed by 15 OSCE stations simulating real ENT cases for hands-on learning.

    Bridging classroom learning with community service

    The Department of ENT at FMMC continues to uphold its reputation for academic excellence, patient care, and outreach. With a high-volume outpatient department, it provides a wide range of ENT services daily. The department also conducts regular ENT screening camps in underserved areas across Karnataka, offering:

    • Hearing assessments

  • Minor ENT procedures

  • Community education and surgical referrals
