Mangaluru – Former Kandavar Gram Panchayat President Vijay Gopal Suvarna has leveled serious accusations against the current BJP-backed administration, claiming it has failed to deliver on housing, engaged in anti-Dalit actions, and allowed encroachment of government land.

Speaking at a press conference at the Mangaluru Press Club, Suvarna recalled that in 2018, during her tenure as president along with then MLA Modiin Bawa, 189 title deeds were distributed for sites at Kaudur in Survey No. 135/3. She alleged that the present administration has not constructed a single house for beneficiaries and that the current MLA is staging a political drama by redistributing deeds already granted earlier.

She further accused the ruling members of dismissing three Scheduled Caste pump operators — Chennappa, who served for two decades, along with Srinivas and Nagappa — in what she termed a blatant anti-Dalit policy.

Residents of Souhardanagar in Kolamba, displaced by airport expansion, have reportedly been ignored, with no development in the area. Suvarna also alleged that in Sunkadakatte, a forest complex has grown near land earmarked for a panchayat shop building, but this land has been encroached upon with the administration’s consent.

She claimed BJP-backed members filmed and uploaded derogatory videos about Congress supporters to divert attention from mismanagement. Water shortages in Ullagudde, Kolamba village, have allegedly been left unresolved, creating disputes among neighbors.

Gurupur Block Congress President Surendra Kambali, former GP member U.P. Ibrahim, Suvika Madhyanagi, and Malathi were present at the briefing.
